Programs & Services —
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Registration and more info:

Please register for the course by clicking the link below.

You will be asked to complete a short online enrollment form and to pay a $100 deposit, making your payment online (by credit/debit card or PayPal) or by mailing a check.

Your $100 deposit will reserve your place in the MBSR course and in one of the available “Orientation” sessions that precede the course.

If you attend the Orientation and then decide that the course is not a good fit for you at this time, your $100 deposit will be refunded. A complete description of our refund policy appears on the registration form.

About the Orientation sessions

We will offer at least two Orientation sessions, and every participant must attend one of them. You are welcome to choose the one that is most convenient for you.

Dates and times for these Orientation sessions are listed on the registration form.

What is the purpose of the Orientation session?

It is the intention of Valley Mindfulness to provide each person with the opportunity to make the most informed decision possible about enrolling in the MBSR course.

The Orientation session is not a sales pitch; it is an experiential introduction to the MBSR course.

Participants are able to see our classroom space, meet the MBSR course teacher, and engage in some activities that are similar to what occurs during the full course.

The Orientation also provides an opportunity for each participant to speak with the teacher privately. During these brief private meetings, participants can discuss any questions they may have regarding the course.

The Orientation serves as the beginning of the MBSR course because it prepares everyone for the first class.

What happens after the Orientation?

At the conclusion of the Orientation session, you can decide if the MBSR course is truly a good fit for you at this time in your life.

As the Orientation session ends, you may decide:

    • To commit to the full MBSR course by paying the balance of the course fee.
    • That the MBSR course is not a good match for your needs, in which case you will receive a full refund of your $100 deposit.

What if I cannot attend one of the scheduled Orientation sessions?

Please contact us if you are strongly interested in the MBSR program but find that attending an Orientation session is not possible for you. In some cases, we might be able to work out alternative arrangements. However, our ability to make exceptions is likely to be very limited.

Some quotes from recent workshop participants:

"Very helpful. Excellent instructor."

"David Spound has impeccable credentials with current brain science as a fundament of his practice. I would without hesitation refer anyone with an ounce of imagination to him. I felt entirely safe and respected. I was gratified to learn that there is no way practicing "mindfulness" is ever anything but the right way to do it. Imagine—something everybody can do the right way! How often does this happen in life? The workshop provided me personal benefits beyond my expectations."
Liv Pertzoff, LICSW, Northampton

"Certain ailments have traditionally been recognized as being psychosomatic because they are especially responsive to stress... the list can be greatly expanded to the universe of illnesses and diseases because today we have reason to believe that any ailment can be affected by stress emotions... In some instances stress exacerbates an ailment even when its main cause is not psychological. In other instances, psychological stress is considered a primary cause."
Richard Lazarus, Professor of Psychology emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley
